VPP IMIS projekta mērķis ir oriģinālu signālapstrādes tehnoloģiju izstrāde un izpēte, kuras orientētas uz praktiskiem pielietojumiem aktuālu tautsaimniecisku problēmu risināšanai un dod iespēju konkurētspējīgu zinātņu ietilpīgu produktu ražošanai.
